One of the best Gallicas |
One of the finest, most free-flowering and reliable Gallica Roses. The colour goes through a succession of tints, starting as rich cerise-pink mixed with mauve when the flowers first open, gradually paling to soft parma-violet and finally to lavender-grey. The well-formed, double flowers open wide, eventually reflexing back, each revealing an attractive green button eye. There is a very rich fragrance. The growth is strong, arching and almost thornless. Bred by Roeser prior to 1848.
