(Climbing Roses) |
One of the most spectacular climbing roses. Bred by Pedro Dot of Spain, it is known in many countries as, most appropriately, ‘Spanish Beauty’. Long, slender buds open to semi-double flowers, five inches or so across, with visible stamens. They are a shade of clearest glowing pink, deepening in colour on the reverse. The blooms are held in clusters, which hang from the branches in billowing masses. They have a delicious sweet pea scent. ‘Mme. Grégoire Staechelin’ produces a magnificent flush of flowers in early summer and, although it does not repeat, is followed by a good crop of large hips. The foliage is dark, glossy and luxuriant. It is a tough variety, with strong growth. 20ft.
